Our Story
June 1968
The first issue of 'l'Oculista italiano' is published, a quarterly scientific periodical that aims to become "the information organ of all Italian ophthalmologists".
The new publication is the result of a joint initiative of Prof. Giovanni Cucco, an ophthalmologist from Palermo, and Prof. Carmelo Chines of the pharmaceutical company SIFI SpA, which has been the publisher since the beginning
1968 – 1996
Prof. Cucco, the first editor-in-chief of 'l'Oculista italiano', makes the magazine a lively organ for professional and scientific updates.
1996 - 2011
The editorship of the journal passed to the SIFI Communication Office, in the persons of Chiara Amico from 1996 to 2006, and Raffaella Cosentino from 2006 to 2011. The magazine, with the support of an Editorial Board made up of the main opinion leaders of Italian Ophthalmology, is deeply renewed in its contents and graphics.
2008
To celebrate the title's 40th anniversary, an Anthology Special is being produced in which scientific articles of particular relevance to the historical moment in which they were published are presented.
2011 - 2018
Under the leadership of the current editor-in-chief, Carmelo Chines, the series 'Le Monografie' is launched. These scientific volumes are designed as in-depth and up-to-date reviews, aimed at describing the state of the art in diagnostics and therapy on important topics in Ophthalmology.
The monographs are complemented by 'Special papers', scientific booklets with a focus on topics of immediate topical interest in Ophthalmology, which are addressed both through articles and interviews with key opinion leaders.
Web and social media
Since 2012, 'l'Oculista italiano' has published a new web edition at www.oculistaitaliano.it.
In the following years, accounts are also activated Twitter, Facebook , LinkedIn, Instagram with constant updates on the main innovations in the field of ophthalmology.
