Genetic testing for AMD and open-angle glaucoma

- The A.A.O.'s latest guidelines recommend avoiding the routine use of genetic testing for genetically complex diseases, such as AMD and primary open-angle glaucoma, until a specific treatment or monitoring strategy is identified in one or more clinical trials that will benefit individuals with genotypes associated with these diseases. The Ministry of Health evaluated the use of genetic testing for AMD and the current conclusions were that the costs do not justify the benefits. See the video published in the Cheers.
