From the beginning of 2019, it is possible to receive it by submitting a special application
Target group: the 25,000 blind people who read Braille, out of a total of about 100,000 visually impaired people in our country.
As of 1 January 2019 with the 2018 Budget Law The electronic billing obligation is in fact extended to all customers, but the news of particular interest is that visually impaired customers will also be able to read their bill thanks to its being sent in Braille.
The bill in Braille will be addressed and sent, at no extra cost, to the holder of the electricity supply in order to meet his or her needs or those of a blind family member. The bill in Braille will also include all consumption information as well as useful numbers.
The project is part of the initiatives that the corporate world reserves for people forced to live with a disability, more or less severe, on a daily basis.
To apply for it one must, together with a family member or acquaintance, fill in the appropriate form, and those with assistive technology to read the PDF will also be able to request the bill online. A guide to reading your bill is available at https://luce-gas.it/guida/bolletta
One needs to know that:
- Bills are simultaneously overprinted in Braille language (the most significant parts are translated) and highlighted for easy reading, also by third parties and accompanying persons
- The service is free of charge, there are no additional costs
- VAT will be applied to 10% instead of 22%.
Another piece of good news concerns facilities for the blind and deaf in telephony provided by one of the telephone service providers: Fastweb, which in compliance with the AGCom Decision No. 46/17/CONS, has provided dedicated offers for the deaf and blind, both for fixed network voice and data and data-only services, as well as for mobile network services, with favourable economic conditions.
In order to take advantage of the financial benefits, it is necessary to belong to the categories identified by law no. 381 of 1970 as amended (deaf users) and by law no. 138 of 2001 (blind users).
For further details on the use of the available ceiling, please consult the pages dedicated to Fastweb offers, as well as the "Tariff Transparency" in which the transparency sheets of the individual fixed network and mobile offers are also published. The application will be processed as quickly as possible and in any case within 30 working days of submission of the complete application with the required medical documentation.
