97th SOI Congress - Friday 1 December 2017 Fine Arts Hall h. 14:30/16:00. Â
The symposium aims to provide a brief overview of the pathogenesis of diabetic macular oedema and the clinical picture that characterises it, and to elaborate on the pros and cons of the treatments available to date.
Speaking of drug therapy, a new drug based on Fluocinolone Acetonide, intravitreal implant in applicator, has been available in Italy for a few months now.
The aim of the symposium is to present the new drug to the audience, highlighting its formulation and chemical/physical characteristics and showing its efficacy and safety profile. This will be done by discussing some clinical cases presented by Dr S. Padroni from Hampshire Hospital in England, where the drug has been available since 2012 and therefore long-term data are available.
