- In children, allergic conjunctivitis is often associated with temporary ocular nervous tics. In a study conducted in China, allergic conjunctivitis was found more frequently in children who tend to blink compulsively than in children who do not suffer from this disorder. Dry eyes and the feeling of discomfort could be the trigger for the nervous tic, which therefore deserves to be approached not only from a neurological point of view, but also with the support of an ophthalmologist. - The increased risk of occurrence of dry eye syndrome (Dry Eye Disease) was found to be associated with a sedentary lifestyle, lack of physical activity and constant exposure to the screens of electronic devices such as computers, tablets and smartphones. This was confirmed by a study conducted in Japan on a population of men and women aged between 40 and 74. The study highlights the significant impact of lifestyle on eye health. Hanyuda A. et al. Physical inactivity, prolonged sedentary behaviours, and use of visual display terminals as potential risk factors for dry eye disease: JPHC-NEXT study. Ocul Surf., 2019. PMID:31563549
