Astigmatism
The book 'Astigmatism: Know, Understand, Correct' opens with a part dedicated to the description of the refractive defect in all its different clinical and diagnostic aspects, then moves on to an analysis of the different types of treatment (optical correction, corneal surgery and laser parach surgery) with an extremely broad and in-depth focus on cataract surgery with toric IOLs. The stages preceding surgery are described with chapters specifically devoted to biometry, patient selection, choice of the best performing lens and calculation of the IOL correction power.
The different steps and problems related to cataract surgery with toric lens implantation and the postoperative management of the patient are then analysed.
The book concludes with two in-depth chapters on the partnership between cataract surgery and vitreoretinal surgery and a meta-analysis of the international literature on the treatment of astigmatism
