Mini Well SIFI among the winners of the prestigious 'A' Design Award.

Mini Well (SIFI Medtech R&D), the innovative intraocular lens for presbyopia correction, wins Bronze in the 'Scientific Instruments, Medical Devices and Research Equipment' category of the prestigious "A' Design' Award.
The A' Design Award is an international competition that presents the best of design and the best-designed products in all areas of design to a worldwide audience.
The 'A' in the name of this award (A' Design Award), as illustrated by the organisers, stands for the first letter of the alphabet, i.e. being 'the first' as is the case with Mini Well SIFI.
Mini Well is the first IOL (intraocular lens), which corrects presbyopia through refractive cataract surgery, drastically reducing the problems generally associated with commercially available multifocal IOLs.
Mini Well is the first IOL whose design responds to the pathophysiological conditions of the presbyopic eye and which selectively exploits wavefront aberrations (wavefront) to correct vision at all distances.
Mini Well is the first surgical device inspired by the latest findings in optical science that aberrations can improve progressive vision performance without compromising the modern lifestyle of people over 50. Indeed, Mini Well's design was developed to ensure presbyopic patients' comfort and wellbeing in vision, improving the quality of life of implanted patients and promoting their social integration.
The design of Mini Well is the first which transformed the concept of aberrations from negative to positive with the clinical aim of ensuring a natural visual well-being comparable to the condition associated with the crystalline lens, the biological accommodative lens.
Thanks to its specific technical features Mini Well can reduce or even eliminate patients' dependence on spectacles for both near and far. These advantages are combined with the proven safety and stability of pre-loaded SIFI IOLs.
The official presentation of the A' Design Award to Mini Well will take place during the "Gala-Night and Exhibition"scheduled for 8 June 2016 at Villa Olmo, Como (Italy).
The award-winning design products will also be exhibited in Italy thanks to MOOD: Museum of Outstanding Design.
The MOOD is a travelling exhibition that changes venue every year and in 2016 will be hosted at the Ex Chiesa di San Francesco, Como, (Italy), from 9 to 28 June.
